Good Karma Cafe

I just found out that my favorite cafe, Good Karma Cafe opened another location on the other side of center city.  This location is 3 times as big as the other one.  This is my favorite new office.  Lots of seating, big tables, an outdoor seating area, and good coffee.  I might be coming downtown more often.

Eye-Fi Card Review

I’ve had a month to play around with the Eye-Fi SD card.  What’s so special about this card?  It allows me to wireless transfer pictures from my camera to my computer without much effort.  You may be asking, is there much effort transferring photos?  It’s gotten much less since I got a computer with a built in SD card reader, but once you get an Eye-Fi card, you can’t go back.  If  you want to know how it works, click here.  I’m not going to get too much into the technical details but give a short account of my experience with the card.

Simplifying things

Those of you who have your own website know the pains of coming up with a design that you are happy with.  After you coming up with that design you immediately want to change it.  I just wanted to simplify things and not worry about it.  This latest version is more of a change in philosophy.  The reason I say that is the design will change more frequently but the new philosophy I have is keep is simple and play around with the technology that’s already out there.

This latest version of my site is an inspiration from css Zen Garden and About.me.  If you look at the source code, the HTML is very simple but the design is all CSS driven.  The layout is a total rip off of the about.me layouts and idea.  If you don’t have an About.me account, you should totally get one.  It’s a very simple idea but great idea.

Check out my website and tell me what you think.

Some HDR processing

Sometimes HDR processing can really enhance a photo. Now that Apple has introduced a HDR feature in their new iOS people are wondering how it’ll improve their photos…

Here’s a photo I took the other day on the UPenn Campus…

With a little post processing using some HDR software, this is what I get…

You’ll notice that the greens come out a lot better.  I admit that I may have overdone it on the tonemapping part, but I can live with it.  There are other things that I could have done to clean up the photo, but I’m content.

Switched to Google Voice

Today, I made it official.  I’m using Google Voice(GV) as my primary phone service.  I had been thinking about this for a while, but the recent addition to Gmail, where you can call and receive phone calls within Gmail, was the tipping point.  There are for sure positives and negatives to this move and there are some things people need to know when using GV.

Philadelphia Wall Murals (Photofunia revisited)

I realize that there are a lot of wall murals, but this is ridiculous.  Actually, I was just revisiting one of my favorite sites, Photofunia.   Make sure to check it out.  Be prepared to waste some time having some fun.

No joke though, Philadelphia does have a lot of wall murals all around the city.  Maybe that’ll be a future photography project.
